sailorcactus:

Here’s the process of a new digital painting I recently finished. The left image shows the first 3/4 of the painting I did using Brushes iOS on my iPhone. The rest of the painting was tightened up in Photoshop on my Mac.

This image was inspired by paintings other artists did of their kids. While I don’t have children of my own, I imagined if I did have a boy, he’d probably look something like this.

So I found this lighting study of this kid at a campfire that I drew a while back.  I really should start incorporating more lighting like this in my images.

This is a sketch I had on my computer for like 2 years, finally felt like painting it in photoshop.  Really wanted to make it feel like the atmospheric perspective you get with watercolor, but with some solidity in foreground elements using acrylic or gouache.  Except this is all in Photoshop.

I dunno I keep having all these story ideas lately about floating islands.  Probably subconscious Sonic the Hedgehog nostalgia from when I was a kid or something.

I read Calvin and Hobbes on an almost regular basis.  I saw this fan comic the other day about how Calvin grows up and moves on from Hobbes as the symbol of his imagination.  It makes me wonder how we all move on from our imaginations from childhood, or if we hold onto them. I know I always tried to.

So I had an interview with Black & Decker yesterday for a Graphic Design position (which I got offered the position today! Super excited!)
Haha, anyway, while interviewing them I asked about the different design departments they had there, and they told me about the team of Industrial Designers that actually designs all the power tools and stuff

And in my head I thought, “Oh man, I bet there’s a guy that just designs chainsaws for a living.  I bet he looks something like this.”

But knowing my luck he’s probably some short, scrawny guy like me; or some little dainty girl. Hahaha who knows.
